Working freelance in Switzerland (Geneva)

Hi!

I'm currently a member of Internations in Sydney but am thinking of swoping the beachs of Oz for the slopes of Switzerland. I'm a journalist and a European citizen (British) but am not sure of the work situaiton in Geneva. Does it offer the same rights as other EU members? Can I be freelance working in casual employment or as self employed person for different organisations?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
