6 months in Genova (Genoa)

myself & my husband, Massimo (from Piemonte) are coming to Genova soon (June?) for about 6 months as he needs a bone marrow transplant at the San Martino hospital.

We need to find a nice apartment in a central area as we won't have a car. We'd like to be within walking/cycling distance of the hospital (up to 5 or 6km away is fine) and close to a bus route.

It would also be good to meet some expats living there, I do speak some Italian but I'm sure i will be tested! Massimo will be underatking a very hard & uncomfortable procedure & could be in hospital for 7 weeks or so, so I will need some support & a few friendly faces!
PS we live in South Africa, Cape Town, where we have a restaurant, but we are coming to Genova as Massimo's sister is the match for his bone marrow.
