Dual citizenship UK-Germany (Glasgow)

Hi there,
I am thinking of taking the UK citizenship test. I'm a German national having lived in Scotland for 9 years. I don't want to give up my German citizenship. Does anyone have experience of how to go about getting dual citizenship (UK and German) or where to find further information? Gov.UK says they would grant a UK passport alongside another nationality but to check with the home country what the situation is there. The details I found on German embassy websites were rather vague when it comes to Germans living abroad.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
