Events in Groningen - September 2013

In the weekend of 31 August and 1 September, the Groningen village of Ter Apel will be the scene of a spectacular, authentic medieval event: Medieval Days in Ter Apel. With the centuries-old monastery in the background, visitors will be taken back hundreds of years in time.

Musicians, craftsmen, medieval merchants and storytellers will make sure visitors are kept entertained every minute of their time at this two-day event. Each day, dozens of gunners, archers and swordsmen will re-enact a battle and children will be able to fight proper knights or take part in children’s games. Visitors will also be able to visit the camps and see demonstrations of medieval crafts. In the evenings, there will be a programme around the tavern featuring music, dancing and a breath-taking fire show.
