Exploring Ecuador as a possible place to visit (Guayaquil)

Hi, in my eternal search for somewhere I actually want to be I am looking at Ecuador, it is one of the few places I have never managed to get to yet but as it is one of the less developed countries I have a few questions that perhaps can be answered here. The nature of my business means I can work from anywhere that has a reasonable internet connection so my initial question is based on that, can I actually get a stable and reasonably fat connection there? However I have a hankering for some beach life so if internet is possible is it also possible in a coastal area.

Beyond the net I am easily pleased, I like a quiet life where I can blend into the background and only come out to play when I choose which Ecuador sounds as if it could well support.
