"real" weather in southern coastal Ecuardor (Guayaquil)

I have heard and read stories about what the weather is really like on the southwestern coast of Ecuador, mainly in "winter time". It is apparently cloudy almost everyday and very "misty/foggy".However, in summer time, it is hot and humid.

Planning to move to Ecuador,...love living by the sea but also looking for sunshine year-round....or almost. Is that be possible near the Ecuador coast?
