Schools and Neighborhoods in Hamburg

We are thinking of moving to Hamburg. But with kids we want to make sure they will adjust properly and have a smooth transition at school. My kids are 6 and 10 years old. They are fluent in Greek and English and speak a fair amount of German. Any views on public vs. private schools? Any recommendations of schools you could suggest?
Also, any suggestions for family-friendly neighborhoods?
