Things to think of as I make the move..? (Hamburg)

I'm going to be moving up north near Flensburg around Feb Protected content . My wife is a German citizen (We have been in the US for 20 years) and we have 2 kids. My wife and kids are already there, and we have bought a house, so definitely planning to stay for the long haul. I currently work in IT for a large health care organization here in Sacramento, CA, but will be leaving this company when I move over. I am looking to take some time off from work to spend with my family, getting the house ready etc. Any key advice from anyone on must-do's? I have seen various threads about insurance, I believe I will be able to get residency and a work visa once I am "officially" there living in our house, but this is all new to me so I'm hoping all of you will be able to keep me honest with other things.
