Getting paid in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City)

Hello, I've just been offered a full time teaching job in HCMC starting in August. I've been told I will be paid in cash each month. Getting paid in cash sets alarms bells off in my head but was wondering if this the norm in Vietnam? Any help would be hugely appreciated.
