HCMC and marathon (Ho Chi Minh City)

i am moving to hcmc in a couple of weeks for my current job in hospitality. i am looking for a place to live close to district 1 where i will be working . . . but i also hope to find a place that i can do my marathon training (or a running club). i am from santa monica, ca; and wonder if this is even a good move at all =) or just drop my plan to run the marathon in sydney this end of the year.
