Work Permit Help! (Ho Chi Minh City)

Hi -
Has anyone from the US gone through the process of getting a Work Permit.
I have all my documents. But have a problem with my Criminal Record report. I need to get it authorized in the US.
If you did this - how did you go about doing it?
If I mail it to the State Dept it will take forever.
Any thoughts?
