Day Trip to Macau (Hong Kong)

I will be staying in HK but would like to take a day trip to Macau on May 8th. Can anyone recommend the best sites to see and some good regional restaurants? I'm not a gambler but are the casinos a must-see or should I just focus on the old town? Many thanks for your help.
