SHAKESPEARE’S REVIVAL FOR ALL AGES
Shakespeare in the Port festival making literature accessible and fun for everyone

Hong Kong’s first edition of a Shakespeare festival is coming soon. This first outdoor theatre festival will feature plays inspired from William Shakespeare’s work and created by Hong Kong artists.

Besides promoting this huge and uncontested author’s work as well as the art scene in Hong Kong, special events will run over all the festival to make it fun for all the family and literature more accessible.

We didn’t forget it’s Easter, it’s a festive time so let’s celebrate all together with Shakespeare in the port! On April 20th at 1pm we will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at Cyberport 數碼港, in collaboration with School Crowd. 1,000 eggs will be hidden on the property with prizes for kids to win. Fun times… there will be games, prizes for children and a very special visit by the Easter Bunny! Kids under 12 can come for free with purchase of an adult ticket to the festival.
The hunt will be followed with a 3pm child-friendly performance of our “Taming of the Shrew”, specially adapted for young audiences!

To hunt or not to hunt... That is the question.

Shakespeare's Birthday Party will be held on 26th April at 5 pm. We will celebrate the Bard's birthday with fun, games and cake while learning about Shakespeare.

Last but not least, come celebrate the end of Hong Kong's first outdoor Shakespeare festival and party with our cast and crew! This end celebration will be for everyone, with food, drinks, fun, happy people… Live music will also be played by local bands.

Meaghan McGurgan, Member of the organization committee for the event, adds: “Through art, play and fun, we aim at reviving William Shakespeare over these 3 weeks’ period of time. We want to show that we can enjoy literature and art, have fun while learning about acclaimed writers, and that Shakespeare is not just one of the more or less “boring books” to read for English class or literature studies”.

Shakespeare in the Port will be held in Cyberport from 17th April to 4th May. Free workshops will also happen. Performances include 'The Taming of the Shrew' (suitable for all age groups) and 'The Tragedy of Miss Julius Caesar' (ONLY suitable for age Protected content to adult content).
