area advice (Houston)

We may be moving to Houston this summer. We are trying to work out which area to look for housing. We will probably need to rent to start with for a few months and then hopefully buy. My husband will be working in CBD. I have two boys aged 8 and 10. We are British originally but have moved around a bit. I am looking for a safe but diverse area. Would love something vibrant with good sports facilities. A good private school and a commute preferably of no more than about Protected content . Not sure of our price range yet as need to chat a bit more with my husband but I was interested to see what recommendations come back of areas to look into. Thanks appreciate any advice you have to offer.
