If you are interested there is the Brazilian rock-samba band Sambô at Indigo Katy Lounge on Thursday, March 12, Protected content . This is Sambô’s debut performance in Houston, as they make their way across the US on their North American Tour.
Sambô believes in the fusion of different musical styles and seamlessly blends rock, funk, and jazz with the traditional instruments and rhythms of samba, creating a masterful sound that has become known as rock-samba. This mixture is a result of the band’s eclectic musical backgrounds and influences, as well as a reflection of the wonderful diversity of Brazilian music and culture.
With a mixture of Rock and Samba, at the beginning not even the authors of this rare and unusual combination knew what to expect, specially from the very demanding audience. Who would think of Janis Joplin’s songs being played in a “roda de samba” (a samba jam) with cavaquinho (ukelele), panderio (tambourine), banjo and rebolo (grinding wheel)
Sambô is making waves across the world and has garnered an enthusiastic and loyal following. The band is made up of Sandami on vocals and percussion, Sudu Lisi on drums, Julio Fejuca on guitar, banjo and vocals, and Ze Peace on tambourine, vocals and rebolados. The band currently has released three albums, “Sambô Live” Protected content , “Sambô Station Live” Protected content most recently “Sambô in Studio and Colors” Protected content .
Sambo in addition to transform Rock in Samba beats, never leaves out the great classics of the Samba repertoire, from such artists as Beth Carvalho, Zeca Pagodinho, Fundo de Quintal, among many others.
