Moving to Houston this summer

Hello all,
My wife and I will be moving to Houston from Istanbul this summer and I wanted to ask the community here a few things:

1. What are some good neighborhoods near the Galleria and about how much will it cost to recent a decent 2 BR apartment in the area?
2. My wife has a finance background and has most recently been involved in post-trade settlement activity. Could anyone recommend some companies she might target or recruiters she might talk to?
3. Will it be more convenient to transport our belonging from here or to buy new furniture when we arrive? We figure we would need half a container if we decide to transport.
