New Whole Foods coming to Houston area

Whole Foods Market Inc. (Nasdaq: WFM) said via Twitter it has signed a new lease for a store in Houston in the Louetta and Cutten area.

The Austin-based natural and organic foods supermarket operator said the new Champions store will be about 40,000 square feet and will open in Protected content , reports the Houston Chronicle.

That’ll be Whole Foods’ eighth store in the Houston area, as the Austin retailer is currently making plans to open its seventh in Katy sometime in Protected content . Whole Foods also said it will open a new store in Dallas, and has signed 12 new leases, according to its second-quarter earnings report.

Whole Foods reported sales of $2.7 billion in the second quarter, up from $2.4 billion in the same period last year. The company’s net income got a boost to $116 million in the second quarter, over $88 million the previous quarter.

Whole Foods has Protected content in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
