Living in Huntsville

Huntsville is a city of some 183,000 situated in Madison County in the north of Alabama. The city is perhaps best known for its involvement in the US Army’s missile development and NASA’s space programm, and it is known as “The Rocket City” due to these connections. This association is also evidenced in the city’s US Space and Rocket Center attraction. It is a handsome and historic city and has, according to The National Trust for Historic Preservation, earned to be named one of “America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations”. The expat in Huntsville can also expect to find some wonderful open areas, including the Huntsville Botanical Garden with its stunning flora, grassy meadows and inviting woodland paths. Expatriates in Huntsville with children will furthermore find a number of good schools and a thriving higher education community with five colleges and universities.
