A survey of Middle Eastern Frame Drums (def) including Arabic riqq, Persian dayereh, erbani – for all levels of players from beginners to advanced – no experience necessary

Sunday after the workshop we are invited to a private home in Gulhane, for an informal musical gathering. Please bring some food and drink to share among us . . . and please bring your songs and instruments with you! – Learn efficient and powerful technique for any Frame Drum – Learn to play and sing simultaneously – Learn to improvise and stay grounded ‘in time’

Please bring with you: – Your own Frame Drum and recording device, if possible – A song you love, which you would like to sing and accompany yourself with Frame Drum. (Please bring a CD and written words.) – Some Frame Drums will be available for use and purchase – Rowan Storm’s signature Frame Drum is available for purchase (please see below*)

Rowan Storm is recognized internationally for her performances of traditional Middle Eastern percussion instruments, singing in several languages, drum workshops and Carpet Concerts. From Protected content Protected content studied and performed dayereh and daff in concert tours with the great Master of Classical Persian music, Mohammad Reza Lotfi.

Rowan has been living in Greece since Protected content , where she is a leader in the contemporary movement to embrace shared Oriental heritage. Her performance venues include New York City’s Lincoln Center, celebrated venues throughout Europe, ancient amphitheaters of Greece and Cyprus, Istanbul’s Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, as well as countless carpet concerts throughout the world.
