Journo request - ikamet tales of woe (Istanbul)

Hey everyone,
I'm writing a story for a UK newspaper about the new residency rules and the nightmares expats are having. So I'm looking for three people, preferably Brits, who'd be willing to share their ikamet horror stories. Have you been forced to miss an important event/funeral/business trip?
