MIR is an interdisciplinary and non-thesis one-year Master of Arts program. While the program is organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University, the Department of Economics and other related departments support our program academically as well. Students who successfully complete the Program are awarded an M.A. degree from Boğaziçi University.

The objective of MIR is to equip students from diverse backgrounds with a solid academic and empirical foundation in the fields of international, global and regional affairs, international economics, political processes in the Middle East, European integration, Turkey-EU relations, Turkish Studies and Turkish Foreign Policy. The program also provides opportunities to analyze and discuss the role of Turkey in detail within the transformation processes taking place on a global and regional scale.

In line with the philosophy of education adopted at Boğaziçi University over the last Protected content , MIR not only aims to teach its comprehensive curriculum but also aims to develop students’ critical and analytical capacities and prepare them for a broad range of careers. Graduates of our former program (Master of Arts Program in European Studies, or MAPES) taught over the last decade hold top positions in academia, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international organizations, banking and insurance, research institutions, the media, and civil society. We have no doubt that prospective graduates of MIR will be able to achieve similar successes.
