older children: school and social life (Istanbul)

I have 2 daughters, ages 10 and 13 who will be moving with us to Istanbul. They will be entering 6th and 8th grade. My 15 year old step-daughter may also be coming with us. She will be entering the 10th grade. We live in Texas currently and have never lived out of the US.

If you have kids going to MEF upper school, please let me know what you think. I am having a hard time finding reviews. Also, in comparison to IICS, how does MEF stack up? I know MEF is a British type school where IICS is more American. I am concerned about the commute to IICS.

How have your kids fared moving to Istanbul? Is it difficult when their class mates live all over the city? Please tell me your experiences and that of your kids.
