Passport for identification (Istanbul)

Hi everybvody,

These days I had very bad experience since I lost my passport, I even missed a trip to Greece. After some time I found it but was too exhausted from stress to look for new plane ticket. So I would like to ask you, if anybody knows, according to police rules here what documents are neccessary to be carrıed for identification? Is residence permit enough? I also have university ID. So not to carry our passports with us. I do not want to pay any penalties from police...
