superstitions (Istanbul)

I am curious about superstitions in different cultures and would love to know the logic reasons behind them. Here are some superstitions from Turkish and Middle East Culture:
-breaking a mirror brings bad luck
-stepping out of the house with right foot brings luck for the day
-cutting hair and nails, or sewing at night is no good
-amulets protects from the bad eyes
-passing a knife or scisors from a hand to hand means those people will have a fight
-wasting bread is one of the biggest sins (which I think wheat was main production in this area which regarded sacred, same for coffee beans in Colombia and Brasil)

What are the superstitions in your culture?
