The-not-so-nearness of Taksim (Istanbul)

Hello all,

I live in Tarabya, the green satellite of Planet Istanbul, and, so I rarely make it to Taksim for entertainment or observational purposes (much to observe on that square).

I will be making it there tonight to have a beer or 4, and it would be amazing to meet new people if they happen to be around and also willing to talk about things like Erdogan, elections, politics, corruption, vote rigging, humanitarian crisis in Syria, whether the Kurds are going to get their independence or not, or why the US Supreme Court must legalize gay marriage (so that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly can get married)...

Yeah, or we can talk about trees and butterflies!
