The Turkish Economy and Western Visitors (Istanbul)

Given the high inflation, high unemployment, debt burden, and the recent low to negative growth rates in Turkey what is the mood in Istanbul "on the streets"? How are people absorbing this? Is there a tendency to blame "the west" and visitors from the west? I've been visiting and staying in Istanbul once or twice a year for several years, staying for a month or so at a time. On visits in recent years I sense a darker mood on the streets. Sad as this is in such a wonderful city, I wonder Is this affecting expat day to day living? Thanks, bg
