Typhus vaccination (Istanbul)

Hi all, we are moving to Istanbul very soon and our doctor recommended to have the Typhus vaccination done. Before putting everybody in our family through this vaccination I wanted to ask in this forum if this vaccination is common in Istanbul and recommended by doctors.
