I'm collecting funny anecdotes about expats trying to adjust to Indonesian culture, please share your own experiences. Just for a laugh.
Here's an example. When I was learning Indonesian I wanted to ask my friend about his grandmother who'd been sick. I said 'Apa kabar bebek kamu?' (how is your duck?) instead of 'nenek kamu' (your grandma?)...
I also told someone 'Kelapa aku sakit' (my coconut is sick) instead of 'Kepala aku sakit' (I've got a headache.) ahhaha...
Any funny stories out there?
