Easy lifestyle close enough to Kingston ? (Jamaica)

Hi,

I received an excellent job offer for Kingston. I would earn a nice salary and have a car.

Yet, we are currently living in Barcelona beach next to the sea. Quality of life is great here. I am looking up on google images pictures of Kingston and it looks pretty awful, and the gated communities seem to be in boring parts of town (this is a question).

We are used to go out for a drink on a terrace after work or a walk. It seems there is no such thing in Kingston (?). Would we be able to find some smaller community but still with restaurants and a few bars at a 30 min drive max from Kingston ?
