Moving to to Jamaica, Work permit question.

Greetings!

I would really appreciate any advise or insight, I'm going nuts not knowing what's next.

I'm a Sri Lankan national living in Dubai and now accepted a job to work in Montego Bay. My work permit application has been submitted to the labor ministry by my employer over 2 months ago and it's still processing. Is this normal?

I resigned from my previous hob and am now waiting to start work again, but neither my employer or the labor ministry can give me a definitive answer or time frame! please help. Any advise would be appreciated.
