New Life In Jeddah - January 2011

I have been offered a new job for a large international company in Jeddah. I am from Newcastle in the North East of England and know very little if anything about Jeddah. Can anyone tell me what life is like out there and what housing prices are like for rental or leasing. I have an allowance of 12,500SR per month for a property what can I expect for this?

Any additional advice on areas in Jeddah or general information would be greatly appreciated.
