Moving to Johanesburg and being scared (Johannesburg)

Hi everyone,
My husband has been offered a job in Johannesburg. If everything goes well we will move within 6 months.
I have no idea about life in Johannesburg apart from that crime is really high and i must admit i am terrified.
Please if you like give me some information of how is your life in Johannesburg.
