Job with the US Military (Kabul)

I'm contemplating taking a job with the US military that would require me to live in Afghanistan on a military base. Part of the job requirement is going into the community. While I would always have military security with me, can someone tell me what the situation is for military members here? I mean, are there a lot of targeted attacks on the military, especially considering the withdrawal of troops? I just want a real assessment of what is happening over there right now before I sign the contract. Thank you.
