The LaBa Art festival will take place on Saturday 25 May Protected content , at Mackinnon Road in Kampala, Uganda.

Goethe-Zentrum Kampala/ Ugandan German Cultural Society (GZK/ UGCS), a non-profit local NGO based in Kampala, Uganda, and with a group of committed Ugandan artists we will carry out the festival for the 7th time in a row.

The festival has become an important event in the cultural calendar for the whole country and has even been mentioned in the latest Lonely Planet guide for Uganda!

This year, GZK are trying out a new concept. The theme “Open Studio” challenges artists to actually produce something in public and to interact with the audience rather than exhibiting or selling their finished products. LaBa! is open for all art genres.

LaBa street art festival doesn’t take place behind closed doors or in an elitist setting but on an ordinary street in Kampala. It therefore encourages people to take part in it who wouldn’t usually attend an art festival. With LaBa!, art comes to the people
