Vacation in Nepal (Kathmandu)

Hello all!
Next week I'll be arriving in Nepal with a friend of mine and will be staying there for about a week. Does anyone have any nice, but cheap hotel recommendations? Or fun activity ideas, or must see places? Is there any nightlife? Any advice would help.
