Visiting Kathmandu & Surrounding Area

Hi, I'm going to be visiting Kathmandu and vicinities next week, and in coming weeks, and am looking to meet up with other Expats (I'm an American from Los Angeles, volunteer teaching in India). Also, looking for recommendations on places in Nepal to visit - has anyone been to Lumbini and/or Manakamana? These are just two places I hope to visit next week before coming to KTM.
