Moving to Port Sudan (Khartoum)

Hello,
I just found out that I will be living and working as a teacher in Port Sudan. I am excited about this, but really don't know what to expect. I am not a shop-a-holic, but need basic items including cat food and litter. I lived for 2 1/2 years in Alexandria, Egypt, so I am somewhat familiar with the Arab ways of doing things.
Can anyone tell me what to expect? Any advice for what to bring and what to leave here (Florida, USA)? I am somewhat used to the heat, but I think it will be much hotter there than here or Alexandria. What are some things to look forward to? What are some things to watch out for? Thanks so much for your help!
