Mailing stuff to Ukraine (Kyiv)

Hi! I'm moving to Kyiv next week and I have way too much luggage. I'm hoping to have my parents ship some of my stuff (some of the bulkier winter clothing) later when I have a permanent address.

What is your experience with shipping? Is there a service you can recommend? I read that a lot of items are prohibited, are they really that strict? How can I make sure my packages reach me?
