Moving back in May '11, looking for new friends :) (Kyiv)

Hi everyone:

I am moving back to Ukraine, probably Kiev, at the end of May. I would like to expand my social network and meet new people who I can possibly develop friendships with. I would imagine it is not easy to fit into your own culture after a long absence (in my case 10 years in the US). I would appreciate any help in terms of groups or events you might know that will connect me with like minded people.

Love to cook... How do you survive in Kiev if you like Thai, Indian and tasty vegetarian food? Any recommendations where I can buy Asian spices and ingredients that don't cost an arm and a leg? I mean like miso paste, oyster sauce, mustard and cumin seed, etc.

Would love to hear about your experiences of getting assimilated in Ukraine!
