Bringing a pet to Rwanda? (Kigali)

Hi!

I know the official regulations from the consulate website (vaccination records, etc), and about the scarcity of pet food and care. I am looking for any personal experience or thoughts from anyone who has brought a dog or cat to Rwanda.

I will be coming to Rwanda late summer for at least one year, possibly two, with my boyfriend. We will begin work in Butare, and likely move eventually to Kigali for the rest of the stay. I have been unable to find anyone to take care of my beloved cat while we're away and am facing the question of having to put him through the stress of traveling there with us.

If anyone has been through this, please tell me anything you can how it went, what you did, how your dog/cat responded, etc!! Any information is deeply appreciated.
