school and house - acceptable distance? (Kinshasa)

Hi,
I am moving to Kinshasa in June with my two children and husband. My husband will work in Gombe and we will probably live there. My children are bilangual (french /english) but went to school only in english so we would prefer to send them to TASOK. But I have been told that I should try to reduce transport time/distance as much as possible. And that doing Gombe-Tasok every day might not be the best idea for safety. If this is true we might send my children to the French school in Gombe. But going to school in French will be very difficult for my son!

What do you think? Any advises are welcome! Is that OK to send my kids to TASOK if I live in Gombe?
