Moving to Gdansk (Kraków)

Hello everyone,

My husband, 1-year-old daughter and I will likely relocate to Gdansk this summer. We're American, but have been living in the Netherlands for 5 years now....so, we've been through the expat experience once, but we're totally unfamiliar with Poland and Gdansk.

Just a bit more background info: My husband's job will bring us to Gdansk; I work from home as a freelancer and our daughter goes to creche 2 days per week.

What is your advice for moving to Poland? What do you feel are the most important things to keep in mind, to prepare for, to plan for? What surprised you about Poland? What do you love/ like about it here? We're keeping an open mind and a positive attitude about all the changes, but I will admit the language is a little intimidating (we'll take lessons right away)!

I realize this is the Krakow forum, but I don't see anything specific to Gdansk.
