Living in Kremenchuk
Kremenchuk is a city in central Ukraine with a population of almost a quarter of a million. It is one of the country’s most important industrial centers and is in fact known as “The Industrial City”. Kremenchuk is situated on the mighty Dnieper River, one of Europe’s major rivers. The city straddles a narrower section of the river between two vast basins, making it an important crossing point and strategic location. The city is also the administrative seat of the Kremenchuk Raion. Given its strategic position on the river, expatriates in Kremenchuk will hardly be surprised to learn that the city started life as a fortress before blossoming as a staging post on the way from Muscovy to the Black Sea. Today a statue of Lenin dominates the city center from its position at the gates of entrance to Pridneprovsky park, just as engineering dominates the local economy. Expats living in Kremenchuk can utilize the international online community of InterNations to make connections with other global minds in the city and find out more about their new home.
