birth registration in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)

Hi guys, a question for expat families who registered their babies in Malaysia. I'm aware of the procedure, just stuck with the marriage certificate. It is listed as one of the documents to be submitted to the authorities as a part of application. We (parents) are both foreigners, on work permits in Malaysia, and we're not legally married. Do we still need to submit a marriage certificate? PS. Our country's legislation does not require it. Thanks a lot in advance for your advice!
