Extend tourist visa - Waiting dependent pass (Kuala Lumpur)

Greetings,
I have a concern. I received my employment pass few weeks ago and have applied for a dependent passes for my husband and 13 months old baby a week ago. Until now, the dependent passes are still in process and my baby will have his social visit pass (tourist) expired this weekend. Should I apply to extend his social pass? how long does it take? and how much? Is there any alternative solution?
