Longterm visa (Kuala Lumpur)

Hi internation group i am very glad that I've found your org. By the way i will be moving soon to malaysia this February i want to ask if in Applying for longterm visa requires me to stay in malaysia for 6months without going out for them to approved my visa. I have a malaysian husband and when we ask the immigration in perak they said that i need to stay in the country without going out for 6months so its like i will be lock up cannot go out even in singapore. Is there any way to apply for long term visa without being lock up? Thanks in advance for the help..
