Covering the themes of hope and death, struggles & resilience, and life under extraordinary circumstances, the nine films screened during this event tell the true stories of migrants and refugees across the globe.

Stories from Malaysia:

Through the multi-award winning documentary, My Migrant Soul weaves together the heart-wrenching story of a young Bangladeshi migrant who leaves for Malaysia in search of work; Nur: Path of Light tells the tale of a domestic worker trapped in a state of slavery in Malaysia for half a decade; and The Dreaming Vendors, a documentary on the painful prevalent reality of human trafficking, the stories and realities of migration to Malaysia are made visible.

The photo exhibition meanwhile is a glimpse into the lives & the resiliency of asylum seekers in Malaysia, told through the pictures & stories by 14 refugees originally from Afghanistan, Burma, Iraq, Pakistan & Sudan.

The event will also feature a talk by Australian filmmaker Robyn Hughan, and handicrafts made and sold by & for refugee women [Christmas/any occasion-shopping alert!].
