Streets security (Kuala Lumpur)

Hello all,
There seem to be some security issues in Bukit Bintang area. I have been here for two month now, and during this time two girls had their hand bags stolen, during the day, in front of my condo. Both times there were two guys on a bike. A friend of mine was surrounded by three bike, next to Lepaq café, though she was brave enough to hold the rucksack she had, and I heard this happen to a guy this weekend, who had a waistpouch.
I would like to know if this is happening in some other areas of Kuala Lumpur or it happens to be just here
