Why do cats in KL have short/deformed tails?! (Kuala Lumpur)

Hey everybody,

Haha, this might be a weird question, or maybe others have been wondering about the same too? But does anybody know for a fact why almost all cats here have a deform looking tail?

At first I thought maybe the owner cut it off of some reason, or it happens in a cat fight. But yesterday I saw a lot of cute little kittens in front of a home, and I noticed that all of their tails looked the same way. So they are born with it... Could it be due to some kind of a cat sickness? They are so thin and inactive here.

I'm a cat lover, and I can't help noticing all the cats that I walk by. :)
