Moving To Kuwait soon (Kuwait City)

Coming to Kuwait in couple of months and would like to be prepared.
1- What phone should with me that is compatible and would be able to put a sim card. Currently I have Verizon iPhone 5, would it work? I can but a new iPhone here for $650, how much in Kuwait? Is it worth it?
2- Any other suggestions that I should bring with me? If I bring a laptop would the electricity difference be a factor? Anything that I must bring? Like clothes since they are more expensive in Kuwait..
3- Any other chat rooms or free websites that I can use to chat with people from Kuwait?
4- Any other tips would be appreciated
